Today’s blog highlights how The Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (‘CISI’) is deepening its global professional community in Australia and New Zealand (‘ANZ’) and is welcoming new members, and hosting events in the region.
To mark this commitment to ANZ, CISI is hosting the CISI Regulators Forum at the Four Seasons Hotel in Sydney on Friday, 20 November 2026. Bringing together senior leaders from ASIC, APRA, AUSTRAC, and New Zealand's FMA, alongside CISI CEO Tracy Vegro OBE, the Forum offers rare and direct dialogue with the regulators shaping the future of our financial services system.
Open invitation to the CISI Regulators Forum
All ANZ financial services professionals are invited to the CISI Regulators Forum to be held in Sydney. The Regulators Forum is a major initiative for CISI in ANZ and attendees will hear directly from the major regulators shaping the future of financial services. The Forum will bring together senior leaders from the region's key financial regulatory agencies to discuss regulatory priorities, emerging risks and the future outlook for the financial system.
Celebrating the formal arrival of the CISI in Australia and New Zealand
The financial services landscape across Australia and New Zealand has officially entered an exciting new chapter. Earlier this week, the (CISI) formally announced its expanded presence in our region, building on the transfer of 5,000 members from the Financial Services Institute of Australasia (‘FINSIA’) at the beginning of 2026.
As Deputy Chair of the CISI Australia & New Zealand Advisory Council, I could not be more enthusiastic about what this milestone means for our sector and, in particular, for the next generation of financial professionals coming through the ranks of our industry.

Bridging global standards with local voices
The creation of the ANZ Advisory Council alongside state-based regional and Young Finance Professionals (‘YFP’) councils ensures that while we tap into CISI’s global community of 57,000 members across more than 100 countries, local Trans-Tasman voices remain firmly at the centre of everything we do in Australia and New Zealand.
Championing the next generation
While high-level regulatory alignment is of course critical for industry leaders, my personal focus on the Advisory Council is ensuring CISI provides a launchpad for younger members and early-career professionals. Stepping into financial services today means navigating rapid technological shifts, evolving regulatory expectations, and complex global markets.
Through CISI’s expanded Australia and New Zealand footprint, emerging talent now has access to four vital pillars of CISI career support:
Future-Focused Education: Lifelong learning is at the core of CISI’s mission. Younger practitioners can access over 2,000 resources on the CISI Learning Platform, including ANZ-specific modules on private credit, digital assets, and fintech alongside globally recognised qualifications such as the Certificate in Ethical Artificial Intelligence and highlighting clear pathways to Chartered status.
High-Impact Events: From flagship gatherings like the Regulators Forum to intimate, state-based Emerging Leaders Forums, CISI is creating spaces where early-career and less experienced younger people aren't just attendees, but active participants in industry conversations with seasoned professionals willing to help them progress their careers.
Structured Mentoring: Navigating the early years of a finance career requires more than technical knowledge; it requires perspective. CISI’s mentoring programs connect rising talent with seasoned practitioners who can offer candid guidance on career progression, ethics, and leadership.
Meaningful Networking: Through local Young Finance Professionals councils and formats like structured speed networking, we are breaking down traditional silos and helping young professionals build authentic peer networks and connect directly with senior industry figures across Australia, New Zealand, and the globe.
Looking ahead
A thriving financial services profession relies on a strong pipeline of ethical, curious, and well-supported talent. By combining global standards with local mentorship and community, CISI is giving young professionals across Australia and New Zealand the tools they need not just to participate in the industry, but to also lead it.
I look forward to seeing many of you, both seasoned leaders and emerging talent in Sydney on 20 November as we kick off this exciting new era together.
